In terms of originality, impact, influence, pure skills on the mic, discography, Tip is in rare company.

And if we're being honest, who else from that era is still able to put out music that:

a) is good
b) people still (for the most part) care about

To me, it was The Renaissance that solidified his legacy. 20 years after he dropped, he puts out a project that could stand up to the best rap releases of that year, without sounding dated or playing to the "stuck in the (insert time) era". He updated his sound without neglecting his core fanbase, which has proven to be downright impossible in hip hop for artists pre-Chronic.

Q-Tip gets the job done. He did what he needed to do on ATCQ albums.

He doesnt have any material that makes you embarrassed to say like him as a emcee, unlike LL Cool J and Eminem.
