"Akinyele - Vagina Diner Appreciation Post (links)" Wed Jul-24-13 03:00 PM by Nick Has a Problem..
One emcee, one Producer. Those were the days @ Edith and Archie Bunker. I remember The Source hating on it because of that "I Luh Hur" song. Anyway, Shit was heat. I always wondered why Large Pro never got to helm another album entirely. My copy got stolen and I ended up getting raped at eBay to get another copy. It was worth it though. Share your memories of this album if you have any and post links to your favorite songs too.

It's in my top 10 favorite rap albums, Akinyele was killin' it lyrically on this album, and Large Professor on production all the way thru was just amazing.

That track is so dope. I was surprised when I got the album that it was as dope as it was. I always saw Ak as that guy with the weird flow who wasn't the most lyrical of rappers, but dope nonetheless. I bought my copy used, and that joint knocks. I really wanted it for "The Bomb", but tracks like "Exercise" and "Outta State" where Large Pro just showed out.
I think this is in my CD player in my car right now.
You're such pests...now, what is it you want? In your depths of your ignorance, what is it you want? Well, whatever it is you want, I can't deliver because I just don't see it. - Orson Welles

wow.... forgot this joint im copping it again...
All the joints on here were nice I would like a remastered version of it tho...
one of my faves is "NO Exit"
When he said "Take your Watch off your wrist if you want some Time Off!!!"
You take the blue pill, the story ends. You wake up in your bed and believe whatever you want to believe. You take the red pill, you stay in Wonderland, and I show you how deep the rabbit hole goes.
Or rather, great beats. I never really liked Akinyele as an mc but whatever, he serves the ace LP production well.
BTW, this album is very rare now from what I understand; I was lucky to pick up the cd back in the day before it was deleted. Actually, I ahve two copies since I "mercy-bought" it from a cut-out bin; good choice and it often is for thsoe types of Hip-Hop albums (=obscure ones that don't sound ''pop'' or ''dance''). I think I picked up like 5 copies of the Knucklehedz CD over the years to use for trades with americans in the 90's (it was apparently not released there); that shit is not even good...

I copped it on cassette the day it dropped and still bang it semi-regularly. For a while it was one of the only other Extra P exclusively produced albums, which is pretty rare for damn near any producer now and even starting at that time. I can see why people got annoyed with that voice drop thing, but it was damn near impossible to front on the rhymes or beats.
Favorites include Outta State, I Luh Her, and Checkmate (which is one of my all time favorite tracks, any artist)
The ironic thing is the album title. Considering how his album arc has gone since, there was absolutely no sex talk on this one, while the next release you heard him on was the Put It In Your Mouth EP...

It's a really good album, and "I Luh Huh" is an excellent song.
Some foul things are said, but the way I interpreted it was these are the crazy thoughts of someone who just got hit with the news. Reading Ak's response above, I wasn't far off. Of course I had the benefit of listening to the song with adult ears, and I wouldn't deny sista's right to be offended, but yeah...I love the song. The sweet Don Covay sample adds so much feeling to that shit.

I never tripped off that song even when I first heard it. I can see why some would, but hell, he wrapped that shit up in the end of the song.
And yeah that Don Covey sample was flipped so lovely
