Were you diggin’ what Adrian Younge accomplished with Ghostface Killah on Twelve Reasons to Die? We were, though we figured the multi-talented producer could bring out the best in GFK given his history. For those unfamiliar, Younge composed the Black Dynamite soundtrack and has some killer solo work under his belt. He also worked with the Delfonics on their new album.
Younge’s latest project is a full-length collaboration with Souls of Mischief. They’re calling it Adrian Younge Presents Souls of Mischief and the producer spoke about it during a stop by Sway In The Morning. XXL got the jump on some quotes from the interview and learned that it’s like “’93 Til Infinity meets The Low End Theory meets De La Soul is Dead.” It’s also a concept album that Younge said depicts the Souls of Mischief nearly getting killed.
“he whole album just starts off with this incident, and then it blossoms into these different stories that are a result of this volatile incident. And that’s basically what that album is about. It’s dope though. It’s really dope. As far as stylistically, it’s kind of like if Bob James and Herbie Hancock recorded with Q-Tip back in the day, you know what I’m saying. That’s the perspective on the album.”
Younge went on to say that the Native Tongues vibe will be further cemented by the fact that Ali Shaheed Muhammad is narrating the album. Yes. It is due out this September on RZA’s Soul Temple Records.

as good as it sounds like it could be from the description. I would have been happy just being blindsided and pleasantly surprised, but now I'm kinda worked up. _________________________________________ The Combat Jack Show is the best hip-hop related internet radio show http://thecombatjackshow.com/

That Soul Temple label seems to have decent distribution in that I've seen that Ghostface project in Best Buy here in NYC. Hopefully you'll see that Souls record in a brick and mortar locale near you. I'm surprised Souls isn't putting this out on Hiero Imperium, but ultimately what matters most is the quality of the music.
