I dunno what the hell he chopped for that. A part of me is dying to know, but you know how that goes. While everyone was going ape-shit over the discovery of the "Shook Ones" or "ice cream" samples, I'm like, "I wanna know what Jay chopped for THAT shit."

those chords are all over his records, that isn't the really impressive part about the beat to me

I dunno, the Rick James flip was cool too, but the rhythmic chop of the piano during the chorus is just sickening to me.

it was the arrangement of the whole thing that I like the best
not to say that nobody had ever done it or anything, but I love the empty spaces in music being put to good use like that

what i love about this composition is his placement of the chops
from 0.01-0.41 its all groove with the incredible bassline
then 0.41-0.51 the chops come in.. the placement on the upbeat gives those 10 seconds so much flava its almost as if the groove's starting to swing harder *apart from the swing of the drums*

but then we get to 0.52-1.12!! oow sh*t!! this is what i love about jay dee.. the cacophony.. sounds come in/ the pianochops are expanding/ some type of pad fades in (synth? sample?). there's so much happening in merely 20 seconds and then it all fades out..

i believe here is where the pete rock influnece is heard.. this is MY opinion on it it tho.. but pete did this on a lot of his compositions as well..

I CAN NOT BELIEVE NO ONE USED THIS (officially). Even if you don't like Jay Dee, the swing is some undeniable "neck-snapping" type shit.

I remember knowing who Common was, but never really listening to him before this..."The bitch in yoo" NEVER got radio play in L.A, and I didn't even hear it in whole until maybe 2001. It was on one of those sites that put songs on Real Player...I listened, and was just like whoaaaaaaaaaa......the hell is this!!! And who made this!!!!!

Then, I researched and saw that he had made some of my other favorites, such as "Find a way."
