"Does Pharrell have a solo album due?"

His timing would be perfect - The Daft Punk collabs have been huge, 'Blurred Lines' is another hit. His timing couldn't be better if it was going to happen.

For me, I remember being disappointed at how conventional it was overall - I prefer him singing but with the majority of those songs, I could hear other artists singing/rapping them. It really came across to me that he was shooting straight for chart success as opposed to trying to create something new a la N*E*R*D or Kenna.

I'd love for him to try it again and bring Chad into the mix as well.

Most of the tracks he makes for others is HIS direction. If this time P keeps the weirder songs like Mario's "Go" or Omarion's "Touch" or Snoop's "Let's Get Blown" he could win.

I won't throw ghost allegations around, but when Pharrell's raps were really cool, so were Pusha T's, Malice's, Sandman's and Ab-Liva's. Everyone in the crew was dangerous as fuck; he had to keep up if he was going to be spittin'.

Five or six years removed from that, I'm not really looking for Pharrell to try and MC anymore. I totally prefer him singing.

"One beneficiary of this breakthrough is Pharrell Williams, who appears to be on the verge of finally becoming the big star that many believed he could be years ago, the dual result of his lead vocal appearance on “Get Lucky,” which he co-wrote and co-produced, and on Robin Thicke’s concurrently breaking “Blurred Lines,” which Williams wrote, produced and appears on. Belatedly or not, Williams (who’s managed by Ron Laffitte) is on the verge of having his most significant career moment. The multi-talented veteran, who was also signed to Columbia by Stringer and Newton, is working on a solo album for the label. Chances are, it won’t be long before the former N.E.R.D. leader is selling records under his own name."

I kind of feel like if someone wanted to that same article could easily be written about Daft Punk, or the J.B.s. The perception is always going to get focused on that one somebody, especially in two/three-person titans like the Neptunes. I think labels are more skeptical of Pharrell as a frontman because of his track record playing that role; the Billboard article seemed unfairly dismissive of his accomplishments and visibility to the generation that experienced his early 2000s period. But putting his own name on something has always received some weird sort of...oh, that's not the Neptunes? vibe.

If he'd go that route and stick to the soul music that's obviously his
greatest inspiration, he'd make a great album.

I know that most people didn't. hell it seemed like even he didn't considering he had ?uesto and James Poyser remix the album but I thoroughly enjoyed it and still enjoy it to this day.

How about an album with Pharrell rapping/singing produced by The Neptunes rather than just Skateboard P?

but as I said earlier - I would've loved for him to have taken more risks with it. He has outlets for rnb and hip-hop music and each of those songs could've been performed by other people. Just like N*E*R*D is distinctly N*E*R*D, I wanted Pharrell to do something that would have been distinctly Pharrell.
