Or can you be indie on a major (Interscope Records)? Haven't seen them mentioned here. Who's familiar with them? Not digging the music. Just wanted to know if any of our resident music nerds knew of these guys.

I just wondered because rarely do i see one site give a positive review and then another give a negative review. Just seems like they join in together to praise certain bands. They did the same with those Savages chicks.

And yes. The hype machine is in full effect however these brothers have been putting in work and while it's easy to go full on Vegas EDM and make lots of money these two kids keep it soulful. They pay homage to the 90's soul with samples and mix it into the garage sounds..
Check out that Jessie Ware track they remixed of Runnin. Way better than the original!

They actually do everything live and include live instruments on top. The show was even better b/c they brought out Jessie Ware but definitely somebody I think lives up to the hype.

house/disco/garage has been surging for a while so they were in perfect position to ride that wave of popularity
but that being said the album knocks and their productions are really good. the music deserves all of the accolades it gets.
1 tiny nit to pick - i wish the songs didnt sound so polished. as everything goes to computer as opposed to analog production, a layer of sheen appears over everything, taking a little bit away from the soul of it imo. this is pretty unabashedly pop so maybe they were actively going for that glossy sound, but its a hallmark of every piece of dance music thats crossed over recently.
but other than that i love their stuff. When a Fire Starts to Burn is probably my favorite track on the album.
i do hope people explore the genre beyond disclosure tho. their essential mix from the other night had a few excellent producers featured: Breach, Friend Within, GoldFfinch, Dusky, T Williams, and others.
also pushing a similar sound nowadays is former dubstepper Skream. i actually like Skream's productions (actually, just remixes so far. a proper original hasnt happened yet) a *smidge* better as they are a little more of the straight ahead dancefloor variety.
late addition: Eats Everything is another producer Skream and Disclosure have each (or both) been doing DJ sets with and is someone i actually think a lot of people here would like

whoa didn't realise they were so young, their sound is like old uk garage. I was disappointed by their DJ set at lovebox festival but they produce nothing but bangers.

They're taking out Vic Mensa on tour with them next year. I think they're going to try to resurrect Hip House. I'd be shocked if they haven't worked with Kendrick by this time next year.
Disclosure will cap off a star-making 2013 with a remix album, due out on December 17. While details are scarce, it is said to feature remixes by hip-hop legend DJ Premier, house veteran Larry Heard, up-and-comer Kaytranada, and more.
The inclusion of DJ Premier is a coup for the pair: the one-time FACT mixers spoke with FACT earlier this year about Detroit hip-hop group Slum Village’s Fantastic Volume 2; there’s clearly plenty of rap in their background.
Disclosure scored a #1 album in the UK with Settle and just received a Grammy nomination for Best Dance/Electronica Album. They also teamed-up with Nile Rodgers and friends for the funkfest ‘Together’
