Riddle me this: Why is new R&B trying to run neck and neck with the vulgarity of Hip Hop, every artist from the Dream to the Weekend have songs laced with the same hatred and misogyny as Lil Wayne and his ilk. No love in the mainstream music anymore calling women bitches, talking about drugging chicks and the rampant use of the word Fu#kin and P#ssy..no soul all hatred.
Opinions?

Something about too much raunch in r&b bothers me. I can tolerate a little bit but all that extra cussin' and vulgarity gets annoying to me. I hear enough cussin' in hip hop. There I can deal with it. I'm not trying to hear it all in my r&b too.
R&B got desperate to compete with Hip Hop and it's edginess so you got all of these R&B thugs (which is a comical title all by itself) trying to be the singing version of Snoop. It was a joke when TQ and D.R.S. came out...now it's damn near the standard.

...especially in the hook, I'm a need you to do better. Random profanity in a verse, is a bit more tolerable, still frowned upon though.
I understand, these young cats are raised in a time where vulgarity is a bit more common in their music, but in the context of r&b it just looks and sounds silly.

I was shocked to hear so much cursing for an r&b group, they were like a hoodrat version of Jodeci, but I think many other young r&b artists followed suit just cause they probably felt like they had a street edge to their music now.
I think when r&b artists did curse the label would make the singers change the lyrics or just edit out them out even when it was a guest rapper on a song, but now being raunchy is back again like the days of Millie Jackson.

the mental picture of him doing any of the things that he sings about with whomever made me wish i had an eject button on a tape deck, so I could take it out and toss his wack ass tape into on coming traffic.

needs to be gonged on the gong show because that cheetio and cracker jack no prize in the box non singing turkey sounds like a broke katt williams when he sings it.
R&B has always been blue nothing new.
Michael Jackson getting a girl pregant on the dance floor in the opening of "billie jean" is some scandelous writing if there ever was some and folks ate that up. no birth control on the floor in the round.
