I think the problem is that Lil' Dap was paired up with a rapper who was considered wack (Melachi) which brought down his lyrical skill by association; by no means would he ever be placed in a category of dope emcees list but he had an ill voice and flow and had some wordplay, and his rhyming got much better years later when he put out the second Group Home album but their first album is still a classic to me and the lyrics were pretty straight forward but not complex but definitely not wack.
And today we got rappers who are going gold & platinum with less than half the lyrical skill as Lil' Dap and Melachi had; but yeah I wish people would stop calling them a wack lyrical group though.

I've always said this...People mix up having an old school cadence/rhyme pattern with being wack....Dap was saying some REAL HEARTFELT shit...And on the real, he had a dope voice...
Now Melachi was pure wackness personified....
He just happened to be a scary, insane son of a bitch.....
GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....
