this is a violation of all that is right in music.

No frontman should have ever left a classic band.

Not Lionel, Michael, Jeffrey and especially Junie

NONE

every front man worth his weight attempts that solo juice Homie.

and Steve Arrington is a badd lead singer period.

you are geared to go solo. now unless you do like the four tops that is one thing, however a solo thing is always that what if.

and you ain't gotta share the loot with everybody neither.

Cats from SA's Hall Of Fame already spent time during the Slave era with Arrington, such as Charles "Cedell" Carter (co-producer for Stone Jam), his brother Sam Carter, Roger "Dodger" Parker (Faze-O), Slave's producer Jimmy Douglas. Far from being wack, talent wise.

What should happen is, everyone in the group splits to do other work for about 3 years. Then get back together. Sometimes people want to do different things. THEN REGROUP!

I dont care what anyone says. Steve needed Mark's bass playing behind him. It was a perfect match. Arrington was better on those Slave albums.

...were good, especially the first one, the problem is that he should've never quit the group but participated in his own solo stuff as well as the group but I think the band members wanted him out rather than he did on his own when he decided to do a solo album.

I agree with Tapedeck.

Steve should have stayed with the band.

Sooo much better with Slave than without.

Steve had that voice. Steve had that aura. The band and the bass playing melded very well with Steve's style.

Princeguy reviews:

"No pretentiousness.

No pompous re-interpretations.

Sometimes, a movie is just a movie. You work hard for your money.

The decision is yours.

See and enjoy what YOU like."

i mean lets be frank: he carried them once he got there.

as much as i loved slide and a few of the other jams without him they would have been in the BT express tier of funk bands who while talented, basically did the same song 99 different ways until you were tired of it by the 94 th time.

he had a vision and knew what he wanted and this cat is a bad drummer and bass player on his own, put it like this and i love philip bailey musically, however that's a solo career aside from 2-3 r&B/pop songs(and i dug his gospel solo stuff a bit) that pretty much should have stayed put. Arrington though no.

It seems to me you didn't listen their albums. They always brought something different.

funny they did thrive with him and acting like steve arrington's hall of fame album vol 1 was being seen by Slave is Comical.

Slave never made a better album than that and not many other acts did either.

oh i listen to a whole lot of Slave and if we are talking about grooving, being funky and tight riffs,etc.. then they are on point, however if we are talking about songs and leaving memorable material well Steve Arrington left them in the dust.

All Slave had to do was keep a tight funky vocalist.

i can't say that because the cat is charismatic and held his own.

if your solo career bombed and you were scared then I say leave it alone, however he did it right and got it right.

his first solo album is a R&B classic IMO and made a impact.

his voice alone is like John Coltrane,Meets Miles davis, Meets Michael Jackson, Meets Stevie WOnder and yet he has his own vocal DNA. just for what he could do with his voice alone that has to be solo.
