"Eazy E and N.W.A on EFIL4ZAGGIN"

Was he not an official part of the group? Why did a bunch of the songs on this album say feat. Eazy E. Also there are other songs that don't have have that tag but Eazy is on there like Appetite for Destruction.

When this album dropped I used to hear about it but honestly aside from the singles I didn't hear much NWA stuff. I wasn't copping albums yet. Listening to it now the production is extremely in pocket. Dre showed his ass on this album. His rhymes are super tight too. I'm guessing DOC was writing his stuff for this album.

That "To Kill A Hooker" skit had me raising an eyebrow for sure. That shit is just out there to me.

the Straight Outta Compton video was banned & it was definitely before the video for Express Yourself or Eazier-Said-Than-Dun.

Eazy & NWA was kind of all part of the same thing, can't really remember who I heard first.

Straight Outta Compton the album mighta come out a month or two earlier than Eazy-Duz-It but Boyz-In-The-Hood was an Eazy solo (we'd later find out written by Cube) cut before both albums, then again so was 'Dopeman'.

But I very well have might have come into it off that video (which was played heavy in the early Yo!MTV Raps debut-era) as well.

All I know is by that summer of '89 they were absolutely everywhere with no radio-play & headlining an arena tour even over Public Enemy in east-coast cities (although at the show I caught from the upper-deck of the Spectrum in Philly, the crowd was certainly more PE than NWA/Eazy.....then again PE were much better performers too).

Ultra-hard and funky at the same time. And the more laid-back beats on the second side is really G-funk minus the whiny synth (and of course, ''Alwayz...'' even has that...) but better IMO; best shit Dre ever did IMO...

The lyrics are embarassing though in their attempts to be obnoxious; it seems like they had this agenda that the first side should use the N-word as much as humanly possible while the second side would go all misogynistic to the point of parody; I don't know if the difference between the sides is clear to people who play it on cd but on vinyl, it's blatant.

Anyway, the record is a bit dumb and I miss Ice Cube but overall, that album is a banger to me even if I feel a bit bad about it being a white guy from sweden and all when the lyrics are so fucking ridiculous...

Life Is.....Too Short was another from that era.

But yeah, first side was over-the-top vulgarity from the little girl singing in the opening skit all the way thru I believe '2 Hard Motherfuckas'.

Second side was all radio-styled cuts.

That was convenient for me as a 12/13-year-old because one side could openly be played on a box in the house & the other was strictly headphones only.

edit: I know realize you were talking about the second NWA album that whole time, nevermind me I got sidetracked to the first solo discussion.

also really like "Real Niggaz" which is one of Eazy-E's most hilarious verses ever.

Eazy's verse is dirty and yes, those two beats are top notch. That whole first half of the album, as someone discussed, is some of Dre's absolute best work. And from a general album standpoint, I still laugh my ass off at those skits.

Redman (who stayed referencing NWA and West Coast Hip-Hop, something that isn't oft discussed) gave a shoutout to "Automobile", probably in a tie for the most ridiculous track on that whole album

When that part started I immediately thought of Red. Nice reference. On another note I don't have to attention span to listen to that whole album. Shit is too damn long. Great production and all but too long.

He was Game-ing it up for a while regarding NWA. Not quite as annoying though.
