"will Kayne always be in Jay Z's shadow as a Artist?"

now i have and others have heard his latest rants and i agree with Kayne about "Suit and tie", that track is so corny that even The Mens Warehouse wouldn't play that cornyness.
Kayne got Jewlery, sales, Popularity, etc.. and yet i wonder if he feels like Rodney Dangerfield next to Jay Z as a Artist or more like Bob Uecker?

He definitely wasn't the #1 reason people were checking for Watch The Throne, but he's not in Ye's shadow nor is Ye in Jay's. They are both 2 of the biggest names in hip hop and made their own name for themselves.

Ye is successful BECAUSE he didn't ride Jay's coattails like the rest of the RocAFella roster tried to do. Jay signed him, brought him on, put his name out there, but Kanye made his own name global. Neither artist is in the other's shadow IMO.

Though that said, I do think Kanye brings this type of question upon himself with stuff like Big Brother and constantly seeming like he's still looking up to the guy. Maybe this recent rant was his attempt to distance himself from always being associated with Jay with certain people.

music.

Kanye albums and projects have been getting critical acclaim and grammies and people can't wait what's next he on the cutting edge.

with Jay its just another jay album will get a couple of hits but that's it.

Watch the throne was kanye featuring with Jay...an a Artist Jay is in the shadow he knows that and made sure to do it.

I know neither does Kanye right? But he does add to them, and most of the producer work w/o Ye don't sound as good.

...back to the topic, Ye does put a lot into the art that Jay don't. Kanye makes 8 minute vids....Jay don't even like making videos. Ye makes crazy packaging for his albums....Jay takes one pic, and that's it.

Jay makes better raps, and has better rep outside of music.

but to answer the question, Jay's at a position where he releases music when he feels like it, Kaney isn't and probably won't get there since his whole shit depends on people's reactions to what he does

had Jay not kept Ye around, he probably wouldn't have done anything as sonically popular as BP3 or WTT.

His narrative is too all over the place at this point.

Niggas will peep what he's saying to them...realize he's not talking to them and keep it moving onto the next.

This started to happen with MBDPF. Which was unfortunate coming off Graduation, an album which I think still spoke to me and most of his listeners even if it was clear he wasn't the "everyday man" Kanye anymore. He still stayed at least somewhat grounded. MBDPT was mostly interesting for the production and even *that* came off a little pretentious-sounding IMO.

I'll always check for Kanye just cause he's interesting but I don't think his albums will ever resonate with me like his first 3 did again. Hopefully he proves me wrong.

Not that there's anything wrong with that compilation.

But for the Kanye "brand" he now seems to kinda be playing catch-up....trying to fit in, evident by jumping on the Chief Keef bandwagon, trying a little too hard to maintain a "street edge"...when he didn't even really have one before.

All the "Donda" blabbering...I mean honestly, I see you trying to get your Steve Jobs on Kanye, but your attempts to be a renaissance man (fashion designer, director, M.C., Producer and half of Bossip's favorite "Power Couple"...behind Jay & Bey) are really all coming off as really desperate.

In short...I think he's probably crossed over too far at this point.

That's what he's risking, IMO. Honestly, WTT & Cruel Summer (both of which I enjoyed) to me sounds like a Ye who's heart ain't in it. And I'm not saying he's phoning shit in. But it ain't the end all for him any more. He's looking bigger than that. Which good for him, but as a fan of his music, it sucks to see happening.
