I love okayplayer. I like discussing music in different ways from intelligent to ignant, but I really wish it was more modern and immediate. Is there a site like facebook or (preferably) google+ out there to discus music. If not why can't okayplayer make that site/app. can I suggest it to someone, because forums are a bit antiquated for 2013.
No, I don't mean I want to leave. I just mean why can't the okayplayer community fill that gap. I don't really want to discuss music on facebook cuz it is too disorganized but even if there was a forums app that would be cool. I look at it as a way to expand the community, where comments on posts that you are interested in would come to you automatically without needing to scroll through a list of stuff you don't care about.

Last time I was on Spotify they didn't have that sort of social aspect to it (years ago) I think now it sort of works like Rdio. You can comment on tracks and see what other people are doing, but it's really set up more to just listen to music and comment on it, not really for having a conversation.

But imagine if there was a new type of forum where you could select what type of music discussions you wanted to be included on and those would greet you as a feed when you accessed it. A forum that would send you a notification when someone responded to your post. Where you could automatically ignore the trolls and they would therefore wither and die from lack of attention.

>Soundcloud adopted a dope "reblogging/retweet"-type feature >but it's more for sharing.
really? i kinda hate it. i know i'm an internet snob (i abhor facebook and pretty much only use twitter jokingly or to pester people for information/action), but it felt like soundcloud was dumbing down and conceding to the tumblr generation with that. i like going to soundcloud profiles and seeing a list of tracks and sets or checking my dashboard for new uploads, and ever since reposts, it's been a clusterfuck. granted, sometimes it's actually useful such as an artist or label reposting the other so that there isn't a redundant upload, but when it's one poster reposting a completely unrelated other poster, UGH. if i wanted to know someone's tastes on soundcloud, i checked their likes, comments, and follows. soundcloud just made it harder for me to find the new original content. too much glut now.

it no longer posts comments by the people you're following, only 'favorites' (which is unfortunate and causes the dilution of the meaning of 'favorite' due to overuse - I prefer commenting to favoriting, by and large), but I easily prefer it to the 'beta' version.
Also, the same song shouldn't be on my dashboard twice due to different activity. That's annoying.

i'm using whatever new version soundcloud forced me to switch to where i have to type in the address bar to get to the old version if i want to find my own comments.
you're going to get some of the bullshit that comes along with it being one of the boards on 4chan (e.g., racism, sexism, my tastes >>>> your tastes), but some threads can be pretty interesting (e.g., random threads about foreign music, one or two guys who seem to be expects on some random genre and are good resources).
if you can bare with the idiocy that is on the board, it can be entertaining and sometimes even informative, and the pace is pretty quick. not sure how much real "discussion" you're going to get, but would a facebook-like format really generate discussion either?
