I like Joey Bada$$ as a rapper. This is my first time hearing Chance... kid was nice.

I'm not a fan of the subject matter of this song, but that's neither here nor there, really.
Aesthetically, it's very ill.

its a good song but I know the sample and I keep listening to it expecting the song to break

john coltraine-naima

i had to make a choice, never hear the song so that it wont ruin one of my favorite songs

or force myself to not hear the sample and focus on the other stuff

i had to go with trane.

all double-time / choppin' rappers don't descend from the Bone Thugs tree

Kendrick is just 100x more relatable than the Good Life emcees

Been waiting for somebody to ask him that in an interview but most journalists would rather ask him when Detox is coming out.

but i think that's the problem with many journalist now a days. they think west coast rap starts and ends with NWA, The Chronic and Doggystyle with sprinklings of Quick and Cube. so all they ask is dre, dre, dre

I just do not see how he WOULDN'T be familiar with them, even if he's not a fan.

that style of rapping is such a fabric of west coast rap, whether it was WC doing it or EllayKhule, the content ("brothers unite" or "shoot with my 45") is secondary

Im a bit skeptical just because I don't think many kids are up on FF.

Yeah. There's a long tradition of West Coast rappers embracing/utilizing different/sing-songy flows. You see it in the Bay too.

rappers since Cold Krush to Danny Brown have fucked with their voices when spitting

its the phrasing of his bars and how he incorporates double time / chopping into his rhymes schemes

i think it was so jarring cause Kendrick is a new rapper and most of the times we compare or say rappers sound like others it's to an older rapper like say Bronson and Ghost
