is it bad that I have no use for Too $hort? I tried. I tried real hard. But his voice does nothing for me. His flow doesn't appeal to me. He's not that funny to me, like say a Suga Free who's equally as misogynistic but he's at least hilarious. He just doesn't do anything for me at all, for the most part outside of a few songs. I kinda cringe listening to him.

Is that bad?

Random thoughts.

except i didnt even try. and i dont care to.

to me he's a quality MC but i dont need to hear a full album from him. Dope on features talking about ho's and whatnot (actually i'd say he's a must) but his voice and marginal style leave me too uninterested to listen to his solo work.

and you played it off though you respected him. Too short had the musical blueprint, word play and humor, problem was he lacked charisma and personality and was a boring cat.

he just seemed kinda there, however musically he was on point for a minute.

decade, 80's, 90's, 2000's, AND the 2010's. I might say he's the only rapper to even do that.

I realized it one night when I was DJ'n...I'm in L.A., yet I think he has more club hits over time than all of our rappers aside from Snoop...and it's really neck and neck with him too. But he has songs that weren't straight "bitches and hoes" like "Short but funky" "Life is too short" and "Gettin it" which were BANGERS.

He is one of the only rappers from any region who has been able to rap on eeeevery local style of production as it came, along with a few non-local sounds, and it NEVER, ever ever sounded forced. Going to the mid 80's minimalist sound, to the Funky Bay sound of the late 80's, to the slightly L.A. sound of the 90's, the Mob sound, the Lil Jon sound, the "right before Hyphy hit" club sound, then Hyphy, and now the more L.A. "Ratchet/Jerkin" sound. He's never really changed his flow, because he never had to. Same flow that works on "In the trunk" basically works on "Blow the whistle." And BTW, "Blow the whistle" is a Top 3, arguably #1, West Coast club track from last decade.

Yeah, he's always had a dry type personality, but it's worked great because the beats were more laid back than a hype song like Suga Free "I'd rather give you my bitch." Some of his shit is hard to listen to for sure...like his intro track "Call her a bitch" off "Blow the whistle"...so I can understand that being a reason that folks don't like him.

So I mean....it's nothing I can say to really convince you or anybody else to get into him, especially 25 years later LOL...you've probably heard all the songs I'd tell you to check out from him. But I will say, he has SO MUCH material that is dope, that every single year, I find 2-3 more and say "SHIT....I never even heard this!!!" and love it. Even "I'm a playa"...I never really heard til last year...and "Freaky tales" is a song I heard about my entire life but never really played on my own til last year...and got damn @ that bass line.
