Is that Ida Nielsen on bass?
Ronald Bruner on drums?
Kenny G. on sax?

Hey Prince, who listens to smooth jazz these days?

he has been consistant for years at sounding like a generic relic in the studio.

john legend and alicia keys are turning over in there graves at Prince sounding even older than them.

Gouche was killing that bass. The whole exercise was to see how Ronald Bruner Jr played. It wasnt a statement song ro an official concert more like a rehearsal

This shit went over y'all head, huh? lol...This was a staged rehearsal for the young Ronald Bruner Jr (killer drummer who was trying out for Prince's band that night)...That's evident given the usual version of "Stratus" is def. more heavy "rock" than this one...

Context, folks...

GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....

Dog...IT'S NOT MEANT TO BE A PERFORMANCE...lol...I know you understand that, right? It's a rehearsal and was used to try out the kid during the jazzier nod to this preview show...

Now, if you want to hear the way Prince usually hits off Stratus" (which btw, is a Billy Cobham cover Maxx, not a Prince song) click below for the rock-version he usually goes with...(on second thought, don't...you'll find your usual reason to hate...lol)

problem is prince can't play no jazz. he at best noddles in the najee vein. i cobham's original and don't no cover.

i know cobham covered sign o the times back in the day as well.

prince is at best doing r&b,pop, rock together as to doing one thing at a time.

i never have liked prince covering nobody, he ain't that good at that to me

What u r saying is moot...U were ready to go in on a rehearsal for an upcoming show that was meant to try out a young drummer...U thought this was Prince trying to make some jazz statement...When that wasn't the case...

Dude was basically fucking around and throwing ideas off of the kid on the skins...

Like, I get it...most of your heroes left this earth or are playing country fairs, so Prince has become your whipping boy...But on the real, turn it down and save your real criticism of the man for when he really deserves it...If dude puts on a bullshit show, we can all call him out on it...

But this? Shit is silly...

GOAT of his era......long live Prince.....God is alive....

I'll take Miles Davis' praise of Prince jazz chops and others over the he don't know anything about jazz comments in this thread!!!!

I do look forward to Hollywood Exes this season for the convo with R's ex and Mayte talking about "there is guy name mistermaxx on Okayplayer who loves my ex and hates yours"
