Wait, what? Um, yeah. This is the long-awaited (hopefully by a few) second part of our "History of L.A. hip-hop" podcast, featuring the insights and shit-talking abilities of DJ Mark Luv.

So, we recorded this episode well over a year ago, and part 1 was released also released a little over a year ago. It was recorded long enough ago that we don't acknowledge that Red Foo and Dre Koon are now taking over the world as LMFAO.

There's still some dope music played and dope stories told. Among other thing, we discuss the origins of one of L.A.'s hip-hop's pioneering crews, the history of Freestyle dancing, the dynamics of organizing and recording a posse cut, and the backgrounds of a couple hip-hop groups that never fulfilled their potential in their primes.

Dance studio scene in the 4 Better or 4 Worse video?

Yo, me and my little step-brother used to laugh at him whenever we watched the video.

Was really looking forward to The Wascals album. Was loving Hard Rhymes and The Dips. No one in Toronto (that I can remember) played Class Clown, so I didn't hear that track until much later. When the album dropped a few years ago, I was a little underwhelmed by it. Battleship and F.U.N. were cool, but none of the 'new' songs blew me away. Alphie did some acting when he was done being a rapper. Keen rap nerds may have spotted him in an episode of The Shield.

So Ras Kass is a fuck up, huh? It's funny, when you started listing all of his incidents, I was like "...damn, he is a fuck up."

The "base is in your face" line didn't bother me at all. Rappers say confusing shit like that all the time. The Carl Lewis line though...

Mark's got stories for days.

I haven't listened to it in forever. "Class Clown" was the first track I heard by them. Used to bump "Dips" all the time though. Gotta listen to that "unreleased" album again.
