I just found out about zajal. It's an ancient form of Arab debate similar to battle rapping where the participants go back forth while staying in strict strophic verse. Even though I dont know what the fuck they're saying I did notice the cadence that is so prevalent among rap battles today. The man on the right, incidentally, is Edgar Choueiri. He's literally a rocket scientist at Princeton who in his spare time is trying to develop an audio format that will deliver 3D sound.
