In the season of jiggyness this record came out in even the singles were kinda left turns.

This schitt and Ruff Draft are really some of my favorite Dilla joints. Schitt knocks and has a grime to it that just does not exist anymore.

I had to damn near pull a gun on a m.f. to get my copy of the instrumentals on vinyl.

but honestly after watching the Tribe doc yet again

I've come to the conclusions he's a jealous, envious, bitter lil bitch

he's bitter as hell because he got dealt a bad hand being diabetic and short

but he admits he wasn't doing shit about it, and stressed he was "addicted" to eating shitty high sugary foods (FOH)

most importantly the nigga was straight up jealous of Q-Tip....jealous of his talent

this was the first cd i ever remember getting that was mine. i had listened to tribe because my brother had all the best hip hop cds growin up.

but i remember after hearing "vivrant thang" and "breathe and stop" and i think he was featured on "hot boys" for Missy Elliot at the same time. (timbaland beat) and then i heard he was going to work with korn.

"let's ride" was my favorite.

there's some serious heat on it and I still play it often, but The Renaissance runs Barry Allen circles around it from every aspect

The beat for Let's Ride is perfection! I couldn't even hate on Vivrant Thing and Breathe and Stop. It was odd seeing Tip go that route but the music was still on point. Things U Do is another favorite.

seemed to get more love after dilla passed, just sayin

when things he was involved with get panned/people are disappointed with the end result, he never gets the blame for it; it's always something else or someone else's fault
Champion Sound is the best example of this, Libby's beats were head and shoulders over Dilla's but it's Madlib's fault for picking them to rap over instead of Dilla's for making them in the first place

I hadn't listened to it in ages...looking back it sounds like a demo to me. I dunno. I like the Renaissance better...the songs are better and more well thought out.

i supposed i liked about half of the album. the beats on the rest just didn't do it for me. and i felt q-tip as an emcee had lost a step. vivrant thing is a really fun song though and i'm glad he got some success with that. breathe and stop hits hard and i'm surprised it got air/club play.
