and the sad part the cats singing it sound like some cats who over dosed on a milk shake.

Sugarfoot, Junie morrison, are turning over in there grave.

but then again i guess its fair game since Gordon Ramsey uses "fire" for his show.

who knew the Ohio Players music would come in handy for food?

But we know Stevie had his paperwork on point, so I'd be more surprised if he wasn't making a dime off of that commercial.

And that was 20 years or so ago.

I fall somewhere in-between outright not liking it and thinking, "Well, at least the artist is (hopefully) getting paid." Sometimes it's ridiculous/borderline offensive, but lots of times it's not. Using "The Boys Are Back in Town" to sign Budwiser isn't exactly egregious.

Love Rollercoaster either

I'm talking 'bout:

Spinning
Sleep Talk
I wanna know do you feel it?
Sweet sticky thing
Far East Mississippi
My life
Little lady Maria
Glad to know you're mine
Don't fight my love
can you still love me?
The big score

if other songs sound "incomplete" that is, songs like:

Players ballin (Players doin' their own thing)
Singing in the morning
Pride and vanity
Skin tight
Jive turkey
Heaven must be like this
Magic trick

then, whatever incompleteness in is those songs doesn't keep them from being good.

I said they were not "complete"... and I think a bunch of the songs on your list fall into the "incomplete" category too.

"Sweet Sticky Thing," for instance puts everything it has to offer on the table in the first 2 minutes... and then it goes on for another 4 minutes essentially repeating what you've already heard, kinda like an organic version of a Jamaican tape-splice "version".

A lot of their songs have that flavor, I think. Doesn't mean they're not great to listen to still... I *love" Ecstasy and joints like that, but all those songs shoot their wad mad early... I don't get a sense of real climax from them in terms of dynamics.

mine..............

then your idea of repetition and/or "blowing wad early" is pretty extreme

Players ballin and Jive Turkey are repetitive....that's why I put them in the category or possibly incomplete sounding.

but the songs on the list I made of "good" Ohio Players songs.......

Sugarfoot and Junie are still alive and I pray they'll get back together with Marshall and Greg ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(I pray Billy Beck, Diamond, Chet and Darwin will get together similiarly)

Junie probably lurks here (I got a pretty strong hint Junie used to lurk on the Motherboard P-funk messageboard back in the early 2000's, that board has been down for a while now), so I had to come through with the clarification of Junie's being alive status.

Edit: "Fire" was used by Burger King in the late 90's. Sounded real good in comparison to the sound on the official (not dubbed) cassete I have. I was feeling the sound quality on that commercial seriously.

But i really think its getting to the point where music in ads isn't a big deal anymore,

and it shouldn't be, superstition is still a great song and artists gotta eat.
