"Drake's Take Care ....1 year later"

this post

http://potholesinmyblog.com/vinyl-gazing-drake-take-care/

reminded me that take care came out exactly 1 year ago...sooo..does anyone still listen to it?

i still bump it every now & then...marvins room, underground kingz, doing it wrong, look what you've done etc. were spectacular tracks..definitely a great autumn/winter album....but i personally think that drake reached his apex with that one...unlike thank me later the project was cohesive and there weren't forced features...dude has been extremely quiet lately and i think he's trying to find a new direction for his next one but he will have an hard time with it imo

a great overall album even tho I hate the first two songs lol..I replace mine with dreams money can buy and free spirit..also replace that damn back it up nonsense wit trust issues.

but hopefully he changing up and switching up his style and music. HE has been doing more straight coming a lil harder with his guest apperances.."no lie" and "amen".

THat album was def one of the albums of the year and still holds up. He showed his ass on that album got personal, rip shit, had songs, hooks, and a real cohesivness and quality too it that was lackin from Thank me later. You can tell he really sat down with it.

Yea he def has to move on now tho that's basically 3 albums of that shit.

want to go a different direction now...said that he realized his sound is very depressed and "Toronto" and that he's too happy to stay on that vibe forever.

So for me...I think he should make a few upbeat bangers like "Motto", a few Trap type songs like "No lie," a few "Poetic Justice" ones...and then change the vibe of those "Karaoke" "Resistance" type songs that were super sleepy with that ambient sound.

Other than UGK, most of Drakes solo stuff is far different then the features he hops on, kinda want that to continue.

I love the effect that he & 40 have, and while there are people who try to get into that lane (Jhene Aiko, Weeknd, etc) NO ONE does it like them.

I wonder why he didn't drop anymore vids, I would've loved visuals for Crew Love, Cameras, Shot For Me, and a couple more.

Still think "Free Sprit" should've made the album, and Rick Ross should've been replaced with a doper rapper for "Lord Knows".

Wonder if YOLO is ever gonna drop?

No still, or for a certain season, or this time period etc etc.

I hope he does top it, which would be insane and another nail in the coffin for the extreme, silly ass in denial detractors.

Headlines is the ish but I always get tired of singles because you're going to hear them somewhere, somehow. Same for the title track and Make Me Proud, good songs but overkill on the radio makes me skip em.

Shot For Me when I'm feeling salty lol

Honestly, get rid of Practice, and it's perfect, I can stomach Doing It Wrong, it's not a bad song just not my vibe most days.

Absolute bangers. . . imo.

Cameras
Doing It Wrong
Look What You've Done
Take Care
HYFR
The Ride

Plus I threw Club Paradise and Free Spirit on there. In fact, Club Paradise may be my favorite song of the whole bunch.

they probably already 'no vaselined' him out of millions already

maybe he knew it would happen but choose that label to springboard his career and is now tryna figure out a way to get his shit (and people that he wants under him) on his OVO label.

just my assumption based on the industry and especially Cash Money's treatment of anyone that ain't Lil Weezy-Wee

yeah, but for those guests, the songs sounded amazing and not all that similar to what those artists normally do. i was completely satisfied with those songs and the album overall. the only songs that stuck out a little to me were "over" (trying for a single) and "show me a good time" (the production was out of character for the album, and the song felt predictable/generic). i can believe that cash/young money forced some artistic choices on the album, but to me it turned out great, really thanks to the OVOXO team who brought it all together, including making the guests sound like part of drake's world rather than simply adopting the sound of the guests.

i think he's lettin take care ride out so when he's ready he can come back big. the best of drake is yet to come. i dont think he's in any hurry to leave young money either.

sn: i wish drake and rick ross would've made that mixtape but that was such a pipe dream. i cant even believe they threw that out there.
