I was surfing youtube....checking out some Toninho Horta....came across a performance from 2008 and got blown away. The engineering/mixing on this thing is effing incredible....I'd recommend following the youtube links and watching it all but here's where the drummer really did his thing:
I'm not really a drum solo fan....and the drumming is aces throughout....but if you wanna skip ahead the drum solo is at 6:30. The piano player is incredible too....real original and stylistic...a little Monk influence there.
So the drummer's name is Enzo Todesco and I geeked out on him for a few hours. I'm guessing the drum heads might be familiar with him....I wasn't but hey....this guy is unbelievable. Here's some links:

So neat and tidy though and with a latin twist. Every single song in that Horta performance I posted above has an interesting drum part. Dude is so intricate and expressive.
