>yes he had bigger buzz than KL at the beginiing of the year, but that aint got shit to do >with it
a$ap had that nyc/fader buzz. after the world announced the black hippy/tde aftermath partnership it was a wrap. k dot. buzz eclipsed a$ap in one swoop, hell the same thing happen to chief keef post interscope
>He signed to a major with big money and NO CO-SIGN. >he dropped two singles (Goldie & >Pretty Flacko) that are damn good, but did not gain traction the way labels needed them to, >so they put the brakes on him.
having hype and being from nyc is enough ask action, exquire, badass etc. he had the money and right people to put him position. he had enough behind the scene tastemaker co-signs(chace infinite, emeka obi, fools gold, etc.) which is enough.
>they threw out that "who's hot right now-right now!!!" single "fucn problems" and still no >immediate love. and you know a lot of his music, >for all the it sounds southern criticisms, >is sample based, and on a major they really do need to clear that shit, >so you know, that >really could be an issue as well.
sony buckled after they knew meek & k dot was dropping for definite the end of october. we didn't see a tracklisting, prod. credit, hear snippets etc. he never got a calendar date because the label didn't think he could compete was his contemporaries
>all that said i think it's good he's dropping another mixtape before his "actual" release, and >he'll be fine
if its good he will be fine. he should stay away from the go to folks like mikewillmadeit, hit-boy and stay with folks like clams & burnone. its unfortunate he severed ties with purpp he need that completely left/lo-fi shit to stand out right now
