"Kendricks the new NAS and Drakes the new Jay-z well sorta"

Yeah all the druggy rap is hot right now. At the same time the druggy rap is disposable so yeah these dudes are solidifying a good position in hiphop history. Kanye and Wayne are great however they don't fit the lyricist mould left by Jay and Nas.

Cmon drake has'nt delivered a completely solid album if you want to call it that since so far gone. Solid as in an almost uninterrupted listen all the way through. However he has undeniable talent worthy of almost everyones ears. As did Jay-z and I dont want to turn this into a Jay-z discussion but Jay started off similar momentum wise.

if you don't mind me asking, just curious.

No one ever really says what tracks they dislike specifically.

I stand corrected it is a pretty solid listen. I can honestly say im not much into R & B but other than that its not average by far. However this to some degree proves my point about this kids progression to greatness.

i dunno. its hard for me to picture people as the "new _______"
whether its music, sports or tv.

shit is so much different now that its not even an accurate comparison unless you pull out one specific generalization.

Kanye career is NO WHERE NEAR FINISHED BUDDING he will go down as one of the greatest musicians of OUR TIME however he doesn't fit this category at all IMHO. Because he is in a league of his own sorta how Micheal Jackson or Prince was. They were considered to be in the soul genre but really who were they comparable to? Kanye is of that type almost unclassifiable. But then again you do have K-OS, Andre 3k who don't per say have lanes either. On the flip side Jay-z and Nas have definable lanes that so happen at least from my point of view to be one of a western pop griot. Drake and Kendrick I would argue can be classified as such with varying subject matters.

I will not argue that they are replica's of some sort but reminiscent to some degree. Sorta how Kobe is often compared with Jordan.

so any MC with some hype that drops they state this same shit hoping that is sticks so they can say "I told you so" in the future.

im sorry but I don't think Blu is a good comparison with Nas at all. Common and Blu are similar more so than Nas and Blue IMHO. If you listen to kendrick his subject matter is very very close to nas common subject matter. Their styles are expressed in a very poetical manner with harsh street content. If you listen to both of them this can easily be recognized.

I was giving an example of what was being said on this board a few years back... I don't think Kendrick is a good comparison either... He aint nothing like Nas... Nas can describe shit, but he can't make you feel shit like Kendrick can or Pac could... To me, Nas music isn't as relatable as Kendricks... Maybe thats why I think Illmatic is overhyped...

And it's cool that people talk about Kendrick and Nas in the same sentence... But Kendrick is Kendrick... He aint Nas... He aint the next Nas...

ok brother.. Nas has not delivered a solid album since STILLMATIC some might say Lost tapes which were CLASSICS IMHO. I have almost EVERY NAS SONG released. I truelly believe that I have every song from his catalog SIR. Im not exaggerating either.. However he is not producing good sound music anymore so I like to find good substitutes. I have not found one till now. Elzhi couldnt deliver on a pop level. Lupe didn't choose the right lane career wise. Kendrick has and I so happen to like what he is doing and Im not ashamed to say it or embrace him as a breathe of fresh air.

Im not mad at you for hanging on to what nas was.. He was a favorite and still is when ever I feel like going back but I embrace the new. I swear when I was running my blog and I first posted about Kendrick about 4 years ago I said he would start to blow. Soon you will hear more of these comparisons. Mark my words...

Good for fucking you bro. So do a lot of people.

Im not exaggerating

Life Is Good is a very strong album in my opinion and I know people do t want to give credit for it but, Distant Relatives is also a strong album.

I have not found one till
>now. Elzhi couldnt deliver on a pop level.

Why must it be on a pop level? Why is that a prerequisite?

Lupe didn't choose
>the right lane career wise.

For who? You or him? Lol

Kendrick has and I so happen to

I like Kendrick as well. Why do I have to look to knock Nas off in order to embrace a breath of fresh air?

My point in mentioning my collection of Nas songs was not to brag sir. But more to make the point that I am a fan of his. However how can anyone be great without a bar or a means to compare? that doesnt make sense to me..

I think its great that they can even be considered as budding artist that are comparable. I stand corrected but I dont think anyone came close to being compared to NAS OR JAY with the exception of Jay Elec to Nas or early Lupe to Jay but they have not maintained as consistent track records as Kendrick and Drake. They have been consistent..
