some of the classic artists have already been posted, zinc, andy c, hype, blackmarket etc.. so i'll post my favourite 'new school' artists.. and it's basically anything on hospital records.. if you want some nice variety check out the hospital record podcasts hosted by london electricity.

....because this videogame i used to have back in the day had some dope drum & bass stuff, even tho it's kinda cheap-sounding. Yeah i know, i'm pulling out game music. To be honest, some game music taught me things on the keys and chord progressions too. But anyways...

you are hearing Drum n bass outside of its native context
its music that is designed and engineered to be played very very LOUDLY. there are notes in it that are designed to be felt with your body and never heard there are layers present that are never revealed until everything is at full blast. there are harmonies that do not become fully realized until all parts are loudly playing.
i get the connection you are making, but its hard to agree with you since i'v heard this music both in and out of context. it actually takes some time and dedication to learn how to hear the music in a normal listening environment
that is to say....none of this stuff is laptop speaker music, or headphone music or even car music.

yeah drum n bass is a funny kind of music.. I'm past my clubbing days now.. but when I did my favorite clubs were drum n bass clubs.. I really can't count how many nights I spent in dirty, dark underground dnb clubs, it just felt so perfect. BUT I never listened to drum n bass at home, NEVER.. it was just for the club, didn't sound right outside that atmosphere.
I can listen to it now at home, or on the ipod, but back then when I was experiencing it in clubs it sounded wrong.
