"'Hip-Hop' EQ-ed recordings" Fri Sep-28-12 01:28 PM by Dr Claw
For as much as the likes of Dilla and erstwhile Okayplayer favorites are meet with sneering disgust and "sleepy time" denigration from the bloodclart bananamouth baby-powder bum brigade who bite through bottomless barrels of bullplop in print and otherwise...
I've noticed something.
The bass on those records rattles the FUCK out of my car doors even if I have the volume at a moderate level.
I hadn't played Donuts or Champion Sound in probably a year or so in the car. Couldn't even get the stereo up halfway before the buzz turned into a rattle.
I figure, OK, well, this is just some "hip-hop" shit cause of the 808s and what have you.
Nope! Put in Black Radio and it was like that ALL over the record.
Now granted, Glasper is kind of "hip-hop" in its style from jump... but hearing that on non-rap records is kind of weird.
Anyone know any other examples that have that "hip-hop" EQ?
