"Hypest Hip Hop Crowd you've ever seen/been in"
Mon Sep-24-12 12:01 PM by edutainment

Damn, this Kendrick/Lupe crowd is hype.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18ShSjhHbHc&feature=player_embedded

Spotted this clip and just couldn't believe nobody had mentioned how hype the crowd is. I've been to probably over a hundred concerts and at least in Toronto this type of crowd reaction is extremely rare. Even watching clips online I seldomly see an audience this into a show. One of the ones that stands out to me is a KRS ONE show from Akron, Ohio. There was a great clip I saw from onstage a few years ago but all I could find online today was this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQIGThql5os

Doesn't capture it as well but still pretty cool. Also, again from a KRS show that I was supposed to go to but was in the hospital that day for kidney stones, this crowd was super hype when RZA came out:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EMB9UjTjyo

Another angle:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHCShgraJ4k&playnext=1&list=PL2958013782F068DA&feature=results_main

So this got me thinking what the hypest crowds people have been a part of or witnessed, hopefully with video links, let's see em!

Patrick

wasn't billed, had no idea that he was going to be there

crowd was already hype over BDK and MC Lyte, KRS comes out, and that place goes INSANE. like the noise in there was football level and it was a small venue.

that's when I really became a believer

The congestion may have played a role in the atmosphere, but it is without a doubt the most fervent crowd I've been a part of.

De La Soul & Jeru in '96 was ill too.

I was disappointed slightly by the too many Wu-affiliates on stage when I wanted to see the OG Wu Crew.

since it's 80% stoner college kids and 20% 40 year old black dudes with kids.

but last fall's Smoker's Club tour with Method Man headlining had the most hype-like moments. Two fights broke out in the crowd, about a dozen folks were lifted from the building for lighting up and the noise when Method Man finally came out definitely resembled something like a roar.

I also gotta give it to all the old dudes that went out to the Devin the Dude show and knew everything, even the new shit, word for word. Always a great sight to see and you really can't expect it from all but maybe one of the white kids in the front row that takes his shirt off and wears a crooked trucker hat.

that shit was w-i-l-d. 'Ye even jumped into the crowd to do Can't Tell Me Nothing. NY cats hate a lot of people but there was nothing but love for Kanye. And when he drove outta there in his Maybach it was a mob scene. Any Jay-Z concert will have a ton of energy too though, especially in NYC. This week and next, with him debuting a new arena in his hometown, we'll definitely see some crazy crowd environments.

Playing 'The Seed 2.0' at the Fillmore in SF.

About 1200-1500 people jumping in unison to the beat on the floor. Felt like the place was about to collapse. Pretty intense.

hand in your hip-hop pass on the way out

the hypest hip-hop crowd you will ever see is when the first keys of the bridge is over drop

that shit might come on in the club and cause a scene

only show I sweated through my shirt and rung that bitch out

MFers might get gassed for a second when so and so and such and such makes an appearance or whatever

but a KRS show is non stop

front to back

hands in the air

feet off the ground

c'mon son
