I like MJs falsetto. It's not that wide in range as in relation to his Chest voice but it's very expressive and there's a lot of pain in it. Most people only have "don't stop til u get enough" as a frame of reference, but his falsetto is very underrated. He could do some amazing vocal runs w it.

One song comes to mind "Reasons" not too many male singers could or can hit those notes like Philip could.

When I heard both gentlemen, I was deceived into thinking they were women.

Gloria: http://youtu.be/d8cjaVntcrg

Cameo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=Ex-zGqYM9Ss#t=84s

I would've said Jimmy Scott is the GREATEST falsetto singer ever, except thats his natural voice.

but then again, I don't think that's really a falsetto, both he and EJ's voice are "normal" singing that way.

Wayne on the other hand did go above his normal singing voice often.

But putting Bilal over Prince is just some level of silly that I can't understand.

Not only is Bilal a cheap Prince knockoff, Prince's falsetto is better, more polished and goes way higher.

The only two real answers on this poll are Phillip and Prince.

When it comes to best falsettos from a male he definitely deserves it even though many would categorize him in the female side or non-r&b but you got to give where credit is due.

If it wasn't for Sylvester it wouldn't be any great male house vocalists such as Byron Stingily, Kenny Bobien, & Roland Clark.

...and tried to start a convo about where it came from on my facebook last year but got little responses and none answering the question. My guess is from Africa since there is ample examples of djelis and local singers where men sing in higher octaves. But there's gotta be more to that story.

(And what happened to the baritone love?
And why no love for the Female Contralto? Like Lalah Hathaway!)
