I'm going to call an obscure style as being a flow, approach to content, production aesthetic, etc. that has no children in the mainstream.

Example - Abstract Tribe Unique

Sure there are sing song spitters crossing over, but none of them listened and got inspired by ATU and none of their music sounds like it.

I don't know if Styles of Beyond charted in Canada but they were about the only ones that went off from his shit, and even they could only just touch the surface. An argument could be made that Tribe's first album aesthetically pulled from Word Power, but it was probably more coincidental.

it's not the flow i'm talking about necessarily but content and approach. then when you get to em beats of course he sucks but i hear el drum sounds in some of what he does. albeit played like an inept 4 yo but i digress. and then when you think about the fact that em got a lot of his early persona from cage ala they only two degrees apart fam.
