"Swans - The Seer"

Experimental/ambient rock music. Very droney, hellish, and somewhat interesting. Worth listening to once.

signature pose.

I'm a big fan of their early stuff like "Cop" and "Greed" but don't really care for the maudlin cabaret direction Gira went in later. Their last one (=the comeback) was pretty cool though and I hope this one will continue to go even more back to the more bleak, noisy and aggressive sound... I'll check it out

But as a fan of that era it's a pretty good listen...the repetitous anger is still there but it's tempered through that old man grit that he's gained. It's by no means an industrial or punk album, but its still heavy and aggressive.

I'd also put Children of God and Soundtracks for the Blind ahead of Cop and Greed.

Attempting to reduce the sound of those records to "maudlin cabaret" is wildly inaccurate.

I believe I have had this conversation with you before though.

def a tough listen. took a while to hit me but I listened to it when I had a good amount of time to listen thoroughly. def not for people who are expecting traditional song structures in music. it's def a sleeper on my list of top albums.
