Despot and Exquire put on quality sets but we're kinda constrained by their relatively small discography. That song Ex did with Speakz was pretty good. The song Exquire did with Despot was fucking nuts.
Mike is a fucking force of nature onstage and incredibly engaging. I almost didn't mind him rapping over his vocals. Great set list though that was a decent career span.
El-P did C4C from front to back with a very small backing band. He's definitely grown as a performer since I saw him in the early 00s.
It was also an overwhelmingly over-30 crowd which was a nice change of pace from the time a fistfight broke out in front of me at the Revenge of The Robots show.

there are a great many clubs, including the one I saw Mike and DJ Quik play at last fall, that are not equipped (as good as their equipment is) to play a rap show. The bass always overpowers everything, and hearing the words is a benefit of knowing them. Otherwise you're prone to either give into the emotion of the performance on stage, get drunk at the bar and dance to the beats or walk out if neither of the above can apply to you.
Rapping over recordings helps in some small way to alleviate that as long as you can play it off.
