regardless of the beat... it almost sounded like the beat wasn't really there, he was just spitting it a capella and a beat *happened* to be playing in the background

And I wasn't really impressed at all. It seemed like a good rap that didn't mesh with the beat that was playing at all.

You're such pests...now, what is it you want? In your depths of your ignorance, what is it you want? Well, whatever it is you want, I can't deliver because I just don't see it. - Orson Welles

but it sounded like he just ignored the beat and rapped what he wanted to rap anyway. it's one thing for the definition of a freestyle to shift away from "off the dome rhymes" to fitting a written rap to another beat, but it's another to rap it the same way regardless of the beat. to me it sounded more like what a rapper would "freestyle" without any beat on at all, there just happened to be one playing at the same time.

i have this issue with so many "freestyles". can we please stop using that term since it nearly never is true.

clearly he had a rhyme he's been perfecting as apart of his album sessions he wanted to spit. imo this was not a good match to the track...the wordplay is good but the overall performance? bleh..

respect,

I don't like the beat anymore because its just a loop. ALC didn't FLIP IT ENOUGH!

Not to mention it's a reflective rhyme and the beat has the perfect feel
for it.

listening to hip hop or if mc's have been watered down to the point where anything different is seen as some next level shit.

This shit was ordinary.

And I didn't make it past 1min 20secs.
