1. "I dont get it.?.hh box sets have the ablity to be so great" In response to Reply # 0 Thu Jun-07-12 06:32 PM by ABROCK33
but they usually are just lackluster fluff
I dont want a box
I dont want a chess set
I got the Liquid Swords instrumentals from hiphopsite.com years ago when I ordered Legend of the LS
the book/interview is cool but Im not rebuying that just for the book
what I do want is outtakes, rare tracks from the sessions, RZA remixes, demo versions etc.
Im frustrated w golden age hip hop deluxe sets and reissues in general so sorry didn't mean to take it all out on GZA
but I can't remember the last reissue that was truly worth a repurchase for the music
I still have most of the original cds in perfect playing condtion
gimmie more music not fluff
I'm a grown man I dont want a MF Doom lunchbox

5. "dude is milkin the LS legacy too much now" In response to Reply # 0
most rappers try to step out of of they own shadow and reinvent themselves, but with GZA, it seem his whole artistic existence revolves around remaking the same album to no avail
we've got Legends , then "LS 1.5" supposed to drop after "Dark Matter", "LS with a live band" album, & "LS 2.0: Return of Shadowboxer" still scrapped for later, now this boxset.

LS by heart
copped Words from the Genuis the day it dropped
and who thinks Legends is a great lp
the LS 1.5 is like killin an ant w a sledgehammer
if hes gonna make a proper LS 2 JUST DO IT ALREADY! or don't
but quit milkin its legacy
its one of the greatest hh lps ever but right now he's about to ruin its legacy
LS 2.0: Return of >Shadowboxer" still scrapped for later,>
I really doubt it will even happen

in terms of spin-off albums, live band remakes, booked festival shows performing the album in sequence, etc is how little GZA had to do with actually putting this album together outside of obviously lacing his lyrics on there.
I mean, this is an album that RZA said laughingly years ago 'GZA? GZA heard his album when it was finished'. He actually had less input start-to-finsh on its conception than say, Dirty had on either of his two albums.
That just goes to show you what kind of zone RZA was in during the mid-90s.
This man was cranking out albums that other cats (GZA, Rae, Ghost, Dirt's people, etc) are still eating off & fans point to as the apex of their respective careers two decades later despite The Abbot churning them out at assembly-line pace like they were No Limit albums while also working a rack of different things on the business end & keeping one of the more volatile collections of rap talent/personalities together.
