>that danny rossen ep goes, can't wait for this. need to check >them out live too, i saw them at coachella but i was waaaaaayy >in the back of the tent.
I've seen them live twice, once at a festival and once at a regular gig. They seem a lot more comfortable away from the festival setting. I think you'll enjoy it a lot more.

them on Carson Daly a little bit after Veckatimest came out.
It was one of the quieter songs, & the performance was so chill that I just wasn't that engaged. Plus it was late as hell, I was half-asleep.
Then I saw some footage of them doing Southern Point live, and I was in. It's just such good music. Almost depressingly good for me as a musician. Like, these cats' arrangements are SO well done on that album.

There's so many boring bands that get hyped up by music critics and fans that I kinda just lumped them with the rest. I downloaded once, tried to get into and nothing. Tried again last year and still didn't at first but then was going home late at night while really high and heard "All We Ask". Blew my mind, so epic but in an organic way as oppose to lots of layers of sounds or big sounding instruments. Ever since then they clicked.

I could only get into the more direct joints like Two Weeks and Southern Point... most of the rest of the album was too sparse, in my opinion. But I think that's just a thing I've got to get used to. Most music isn't like that nowadays.

the whole album flows together uncannily well. Its energy on average is just pretty relaxed, and focuses on space within soundscapes as a musical component, IMO.
It sounds like they might be exploring ways to kick up the energy without sacrificing the most salient characteristics for the new stuff...we'll see.
