that "Jackson" sound, heard on "Wanna Be Startin Something", "Workin' Day and Night", and Jacksons songs like "Walk Right Now"... definitely funky. And people imitated that big time.

I just don't hear anything funky in this song. It like a mix of pop and soul music. Funky to me is funk or soul mixed with funk.

James Ingram wrote the faster version PYT here comes off like a lite version of Ingram's "shes a badd mamma jamma" which he wrote and played all the instruments on for Carl Carlton.

then the first cousin of both mamma jamma and PYT is Donna Summer's finger on the trigger love is in control and that has groove, but again its pop ultra sheen in between.
