"Muddy Waters >> Doc's Da Name >> Whut >> Dare Iz"

Muddy is Red's best followed by Doc's Da Name and then Whut and then Dare followed with his last two albums.

Dare is his most overrated album, it took me the longest time to actually be able to listen and sit through that album. I think it's one of those albums that maybe it's one of those "moment in time albums" where you had to be there to really get it. But Muddy is Red at his best and out of all his albums with Doc's Da Name being a close second it sounds the best today.

that album was sort of Red's "Beats Rhymes and Life" in that you'll find a lot that will find it dope, but compared to the first three...

I would agree that The Red Tape is a bit "moment in time". It's my personal favorite, if only because it's Redman UNFILTERED. Picked up on the first album and went from there.

Muddy Waters is a respectable place at the top, since he did sort of fine-tune his formula a little bit.

But his debut is as close to a classic as you can get without actually saying so. The tracks on that album? "Tonight's Da Nite"? "Time 4 Sum Akshun"? "Sooperman Luva"? and one of my all-time favorite skits "Funky Uncles"?

Yeah, see aside from songs like Green Island, Bobyahed2dis, Tonight's The Night, Basically, Cosmic Slop, and Sooperman Luva II I've never really cared for Dare Iz A Darkside. But then again, I wasn't into Redman back in 94, I wouldn't come around to Redman's stuff until Doc's Da Name so that album was like my introduction to him and Doc's Da Name was a part two to Muddy Waters with more of a commercial angle to it. I like Whut Thee Album but I like Muddy and Doc's the name more because I think it has the kind of production I grew up to and getting into when I was really getting more and more into Hip Hop. Although I had already been a Hip Hop fan a few years before, the late 90's is where I really began to appreciate Hip Hop and come into a wide spectrum of what it was.

Really didn't like the beats on "Doc's Da Name". I like my Def Squad stuff with a little more murk and grime.

I agree with this except I would put Whut second. I had Dare on tape when it dropped along with Tical. No matter how much I tried, outside of a few songs and a remix I couldn't get into it. Muddy Waters is easily my favorite.

saying you're a stan and then acclaiming one of the artist's worst albums isn't exactly helping your point
all of Redman's albums are at least listenable to me from some standpoint, I'm not dissing you just your choice of words
stop being so sensitive

Dare was the album that SOLD me on Redman. He rapped his ass off, said whatever the fuck he wanted and did not give a fuck. Saw him live then and he was awesome.
