Well, I guess we got this all wrong. Lupe Fiasco and Pete Rock were said to have worked their differences out, but it looks like somebody messed up. Wasulu called up to Sway and he spazzes completely out on Pete Rock. Definitely a must listen.

lupe does not have the best track record when it comes to this stuff, but he sounds way too pissed to be lying.
i think this was a case of lupe's people and atlantic calling pete's people (with lu and pete never talking one on one) and things got muddled, and here we are.
i dont think either is in the wrong here, but let it be a listen to pick up the phone and handle business by yourself instead of having "your people call my people".

Shit Pete came through saying it was an emotional reaction. Lupe said he was trying to pay homage. Pete said that he was like "talk to me and rap over the original." Lupe said that he wanted to rap over the original. I think if there weren't 6 niggas on the phone, if the communication was between Lupe and Pete, if it wasn't handled via "their people" talking, this shit wouldn't have happened the way it did. I honestly believe that Lupe's biggest mistake was calling into Sway when he was feeling the way he did. He should have calmed the fuck down, called Pete, and aired out any issues he had that way. Shit. Pete should have called Lupe to begin with.
But celebrities do shit in public for a reason, right?

it sounds pretty bad for Pete actually... communications. If they couldn't clear the actual sample, then Lupe and friends had no choice but to remake it, if that was their intent.

I agree with pete rock cuz its wrong to use someone's beat that they spent a lot of effort and hard time creating without their permission. I saw some of pete rock's cd at moods music last week and I used to know this jamaican guy back in college at fort valley state university that had one of his cds.

I don't blame lupe for this at all but I'm wondering why he decided to rap over Troy again. He already did it years ago and while it's a short freestyle, I kinda like it better than the new one. He should have picked 93 till infinity or something.
