1. I literally don't skip a single song on Vol. 1. It's perfectly cohesive yet never feels boring at any point (mostly due to how many ideas they throw out there) On Vol. 2 I tend to skip over tracks like Eyes Up, Jealousy and 2U4U (though 2U4U is a dope track)
2. Vol 1 is completely, 100% Jay Dee's project. Zero help at all with minimal equipment at his disposal. He pretty much displays how it's not about what you have, but how you use it. The dubbing on Fat Cat remix is absolutely jaw dropping, go check it out. Vol 2 has people like Questlove, D'Angelo, Pete Rock, Jazzy Jeff etc all putting their own little ingredients in there, which doesn't take away from it, but just makes Vol 1 look that much more impressive, since it was made by one man.
3. Vol 2 lost more good songs than it gained. I mean, Fall In Love, Untitled, Climax and Get Dis Money are all brilliant, amazing tracks. But the loss of Vol 1's Forth n Back, Beej n Dem, Look Of Love (and remix), Baatin's Pregnant, 5 Ela Remix, and, my favorite, Things U Do, are missed when I listen to Vol 2.
4. With the fantastic interludes on vol 1 (Fantastic 1,2,3,4), the project felt more complete and satisfying to listen to all at once. Vol 2 has brilliant moments with weird skits that don't fit (end of Tell Me, before Go Ladies, and the Louis Armstrong one is too long).
This makes it sound like I hate Vol 2, which I absolutely do not. But Vol 1 feels sharper, and I can see why Quest praises it the way he does.
