"So Sa-Ra is....?"

Did these guys drop off the face of the Earth or what? I mean they were running around with Kanye for awhile (I think they were even on GOOD music at some point) and haven't heard much since they're 2nd album that didn't create much waves. Anyone have any idea what's up? Any recent projects released or in the works?

They never got out the gate. Internet chat was closest they got to success, and they didn't deserve the chat, if you ask me.

they did production as a collective for various people, got a deal through GOOD/SONY before it folded.

though they never completely capitalized on the promise they'd showed, in the eyes of some like myself, they were far from the picture you are painting regardless of your personal opinion of their music.

I don't/didn't really have a problem with their production, just the group. It was all style over substance. I couldn't get with all the craziness and nonsense.

it was 2/3 substance and 1/3 style. shafiq is an incredible programmer and ommas can play damn near every instrument very well. taz may have been there more on the style tip but I don't see how overall they were more style than substance.

i was a fan of them more as a production unit than performers mostly because i feel like their songwriting was kind of weak, but it does suck that they didn't keep it going together. I'm a fan of shafiq's & om'maas' solo stuff, but their sound as a group was a lil different which i dug

like many have noted, they're doing their own thing.

and the GOOD Music album ended up being kinda wack, so it was a bit of a blessing that it never came out or else it really would've probably pissed some folks off/given NotYaAvBrother more ammo.

But they were great, to me, for that brief moment in time.

still got some of the vinyl. just sold all 3 cd's like 2 weeks ago.

shafiq first 12"/solo beat album was banging and raw. that is the best project from any of the members individually or collectively to me.

but sa-ra, as a collective, is over rated. i love taz on the style/fashion shit. they look dope on the album covers and shit. lol. but the boys are not singers like that, and a lot of there production doesn't really hit like that. my favorite track from them that i dug the beat and vocals on was that song Hollywood. now that is the joint. i could roll up with my windows rolled down with a smile on my face hollering out the window to a girl with a fat ass walking by and shit. like hey girl "hollywood--- you don't know--- hollywood--- hollywood---- ya - ya--- hollywood"

all day

all the talk of them being the next neptunes was funny, but also their main problem. these guys arent commercial sounding (ie they cant write 'hits'), but they wanted to be SO SO badly, that they didnt know - and still dont seem to know - what they were good at. they were (sporadically) great for a short time but since then, i think theyve released too much music, and lapsed a lot on the quality control. i lost interest a while back. but i like quite a few of the early songs that were doing the rounds on the net back whenever.
