"Your 10 fav hip hop songs of all time? "

In no order except for the first one...

1) TROY
2) Electric Relaxation
3) Tennessee
4) 93 Til Infinity
5) It Ain't Hard To Tell
6) Hip Hop (Dead Prez, duh)
7) Resurrection or I Used to Love HER
8) Living is Beautiful (Pep Love)
9) Vibes & Stuff (Tribe)
10) Black Girl Pain (Talib)

You can tell I'm still living in the 90s and skewed towards NYC hip hop...

Summertime in the LBC and Never Leave Me Alone makes me smile. Those are two incredibly underrated tracks, even just in the pantheon of west coast hiphop. Both those songs are just inexplicably great. Would have never expected either to be mentioned in a post like this.

pretty much sums up how i wanna be loved by somebody

nate is a extremely slept on artist IMO never got his rightful props

nobody else could have sang that song that way & made it meaningful to me

his tone is so...sadly resigned...yet wishful

will i? be left alone? on my own? <----- what man hasnt asked himself this question

& the gospelly breakdown near the end...major

Nate is thoroughly underappreciated, and that song certainly showcases what he's capable of in so many ways. Then to add a really solid, very relevant verse from Snoop just enhanced the track. The beat was great too. And yea, the gospel shit at the end...I was in the car with my ex-gf several months back and kept rewinding that part of the song, gives me chills just thinking about it.

Funny story - I'm from Boston and when I'm not listening to my iPod I listen to sports talk radio all day, every day during my commute and at work. When Nate Dogg (RIP) died last year, one of the afternoon drive guys took a call about Nate Dogg. The guy said, you know, Nate Dogg, best hook singer in rap and maybe even music history, etc...this radio guy had the nerve to say he was OVERRATED. I called in and went apeshit on this guy. Sadly I was TOO pissed, and swore, so they dropped my call after about 2 minutes...but shit did I go in on that moron for those first two minutes.

Overrated this asshole says. I couldn't believe my ears. If anything he's criminally UNDERRATED. His solo work is very underappreciated.

I'm hanging out all up in this post, but there is absolutely ZERO chance I could narrow it down to 10 so I have no intentions of trying.

Someone always tends to bring up a song or artists that haven't thought of for a while. Anyway, in no particular order (and this list can change from day to day)...

I Know You Got Soul- Eric B & Rakim
93 til Infinity- Souls of Mischief
Mainstream- Outkast
White Man's World- Tupac
I'm Not You- Clipse
Mystery of Chessboxin'- Wu-Tang Clan
Run's House- Run DMC
Flavor of the Month- Black Sheep
Mortal Combat- Big Daddy Kane
Go Cut Creator Go- LL Cool J

and I DEFINITELY would put "Set it Off" or "Raw" by Big Daddy Kane and "Mama Said..." or "Jack The Ripper" by LL on the list...
