"on: chillin' in the apartment music"

is that what you look for in music?
shit to chill to while in your apartment?
what happened to music that was supposed to make you
get up and dance?
get excited?
get hyped?
we've been reduced to wantin' to chill?
i thought that was what rnb and other soft music was for?
niggas wanna chill listenin' to hip hop now?
i blame weed smokin'
at least, when everybody was on cocaine and doin' hip hop
shit was hyped
now, everybody is all slow and got the munchies and movin' slow
and makin' drowsy ass music

naw b, the sun don't chill©gfk

life always offers you a 2nd chance...it's called tomorrow. use it wisely

you dance around in your house (or long to)? by yourself?

i get the idea of wanting music that gets you hype....but not to the end that you can dance around your place of residence (unless it is @ a houseparty).

i can also get with idea of examining the "slowdown effect"

but your premise strikes as odd

fascinating

>what happened to music that was supposed to make you
>get up and dance?

the music that was supposed to make you get up and dance got soft as shit.

if you're talking about hip hop, this is especially true.

but to answer the question asked... eh, you go to different music (artists) for different things.

If I wanna get up and dance I put on some old funk/R&B records

I don't really listen to hip-hop to "chill" so much as to... listen.
There is some "chill" hip-hop I listen to, but really, I like hip-hop that is high energy in a different sort of way, see this:

(don't click if you're at work w/o headphones)

There ain't nothing chill about that kinda hip hop. Sure there's lots of hip hop that's chill but there's always been, I'd sooner blame MDMA than weed for the sound of a lot of current hip hop (IE// Drake, Kendrick Lamar, A$Ap Rocky, etc.). There is a big divide between whee hip hop is at what's played in the club but that started a long time ago and drugs has nothing to do with that.

I go through fazes where I don't listen to rap and I'm in that faze right now. Shit I might just stick to what I have and discover new music in other genres.

for the most part now.

That's what I listen to most music now for the most part.

I got this really nice mix of like
Drake
UGK
DJ Screw
ASAP Rocky
Clams Casino instrumentals
ATCQ
and Digable Planets
+
Soul On Ice

It's really good...

Hopefully this new Killer Mike/ El-P album will bring some more energy to my hip-hop listening habits.

I still listen to like Rick Ross and Gucci/Juicy J though, when I wanna get hype.

Only time I need music to get me hype is if I'm doing cardio or something.
