"Lil B: The Best Wack Rapper Ever: Build a life & career"

Now, this is something I was thinking a few minutes ago. Lil B is the best wack (meaning skills compared to most) but still made a career, picks hot beats, did song with Lil Wayne, track with 9th Wonder, Phonte & Jean Grae, Lupe Fiasco said he liked him, J. Electronica showed him love on twitter, he has his own huge following of fans etc.. (hell, I like the track Myspace..lol) ..its crazy how he has build all this with off beat raps and some wack lyrics pretty often. This is why he is the best wack (at times corny) rapper. Like Soldier Boy is wack (rich, I know) but on a hip hop level, Lil B has built a lane. His last joint had some hot beats and I'm Gay -Happy had some nice production and the track "Unchain Me" is solid. If you look below at his work ethic, though I dont like him...he is good in his lane..

Albums
2009: 6 Kiss
2009: I'm Thraxx
2010: Rain in England
2011: Angels Exodus
2011: I'm Gay (I'm Happy) (R&B/Hip-Hop Albums #56, Heatseekers Albums #20)
Official Mixtapes

2010: "MF Based"
2010: "Blue Flame"
2010: "Red Flame"

2011: "Paint"
2011: "Red Flame Extended: Devil Music"
2011: "The Myspace Collection"
2011: "Illusions Of Grandeur"
2011: "Bitch Mob: Respect Da Bitch Vol.1"
2011: "I Forgive You"
2011: "Black Flame: Water Front H20"
2011: "The Silent President"
2011: "BasedGod Velli"
2011: "Blue Eyes"
2011: "GoldHouse"
2012: "White Flame"

is charisma/like-ability
and some sort of saving grace
his being production

awesome production + charisma + positivity
is Lil' B

you can have
top notch lyricism, but w/o that magic factor, charisma, w/e it may be people won't listen, or I won't for one.

listening to his music for me is an experience that you don't get from listening to typical rap. Not that its necessarily better quality, better rapping, beats whatever your typical barometer is. I get this zen like spaced out feeling that completely relaxes me, its like the tone of his voice is just so numbing and his beat selection to go along with it is immaculate. Plus dude is 100% genuine, hilarious as fuck, and hes good at making a bunch of different styles of music, some of my favorite times listening to shit in the car is a based classic like ellen degeneres, or all i know. he's legitimately one of my favorite cats doing it, even if he has way to much output.

he's spontaneous. nothing is over-thought. it's all feel, and i get into it. he doesn't think twice about putting out the stuff where he's just fooling around.

he genuinely cares about his fans. i thought it was awesome when he gave away "i'm gay" for free after he released it on itunes because he said that a lot of his fans couldn't afford to buy it.

I know that sounds like rationalization for bad music (and I generally don't like a lot of his shit), but I admire any artist who does something different in a time when so many dudes are following the cookie cutter formula.

I would say his work ethic is admirable, but he could probably benefit from dropping less music and focus more on perfecting the shit before he puts it out. Some of his shit has interesting premises, but the execution is downright embarassing.

I appreciate that he's attempting to make his own lane and break new ground, but ultimately I can't stand listening to anything he does. When he gets serious and raps in earnest, it's tolerable but not amazing, and his skills are lacking. When he does his based bullshit I can't stand more than ten seconds of it. No matter what style he's doing, his voice is annoying and his grasp of the mechanics of rapping seems questionable at best. Don't get it.

We are now at a point in America where being stupid is rewarded....

Lil B knows it... and dammit, I'm going to apply that shit as well.

Being smart and striving for excellence takes too long...

i don't have an easy way to explain it other than you have to be REALLY patient and rethink every listening convention you've ever had to appreciate what he's doing. it's apparent he goes in, records, wings it MOSTLY and sometimes he scores (the rewards I wait for), sometimes he fails (which happens in his own charming way) and he's never taking himself as seriously as those who hate him do.

the last part, to me, is what makes him borderline great. he could give a shit what critics say. and he's still selling out shows, touring the world...no deal.

idk if he devised this plan or just kept f'ing around till it somehow worked, but dude is completely original and unique. I also like how you can really break down what he's doing as satire and completely thought out and planned, but then you think about it and it's probably none of that he probably just doesn't give a f*ck lol

lil b is my favorite new artist

Club/commercial wise.

I half kid when I say it. But he's solely responsible for ALL the dance songs that came out, and low key responsible for L.A. completely revamping his sound. His shit lead to kids Jerkin and making videos, which lead to a few of our rappers who had some skill to evolving that shit and giving us a new club sound.

People hate on him because he's pretty mediocre on the mic, but his genius has been focusing on pure dance music right before the waves hit us(although rather then going the euro trance route of black eyed peas he kept it acceptably hood). Lyriucally/flow wise those songs were no worse then any other club friendly hip-hop track for the past few years.

There was (and still is) a HUGE lane left wide open for younger hip-hop fans (teens, very early 20's) with all the big MC's being 30-40 years old nowadays and he took full advantage. It's a wave that Odd Future is riding on as far as future hipsters/underground cats are concerned, and where Soulja boy cleaned up on the mainstream hip-hop end.

To me a lot of albums/mixtapes doesnt equal good work ethic.

it usually just means he doesn't take a lot of time to perfect a single project before making a new one. some cats can do this well (Curren$y) but others are just making half baked project after half baked project (charles hamilton) and nothing is really all that worht listneing to.

i havent heard enough from lil b to decide if he's a Curren$y type or a Hamilton type, but if i had to guess, i'd say the latter.

34. "Angels Exodus is a well put together album..."

The album sounds, to me, like it took him more than a month to make it. Plus it sounds like he took it to an engineer to get it mixed and mastered properly. It's of a similar vien to "I'm Gay", but I think "Angels Exodus" is a better.

Lil B is a smart dude...

It doesn't matter what you say as long as people get to hear you say it over and over again.

I haven't heard a lot of Lil B because I think he sucks but I did see him get punched in the face on some sneak shit.

I felt bad for him... fuck it.
