"can you imagine how dope DMX would have been if..."

he actually had rapped on good beats?
like "we right here" foe example...
a fake soundclick dj premier impersonation at best.
and he still squeezed out all of the hypeness you could get out of a beat that flat.
can you imagine if he had had m.o.p.'s production or something similar?
think of all the dope producers in the late 90's/early 2000's that he COULD have worked with...
a nottz/dmx track circa 2000/2001 would have been incredible.
they could have done an entire album together. hand in glove.
but instead we head endless p.killer/dame grease/dj shok/swizz beatz duds with incredible vocal performances on top of them...
oh well...

i would still be excited for a premo/dmx track or even better album in 2012.
i wouldn't check a regular dj premier produced track if you offered me 100 dollars - no strings attatched.
but maybe that's because the rappers he works with are so weak and don't know how to maximize his beats.
for some reason the results of x/premo, even decade after their primes ended, could still seem potentially kind of live...

Swizz Beatz a SUPER producer....and with that, he had his own sound, which was commercial enough to give him those #1 selling albums but still allowed him to get his hood on. I'd never heard beats like I did on his albums, and although most of it sounds dated/trendy/bland now, it was BANGIN then.

Him over MOP's production would have meant he was only as big as MOP...maybe a bit bigger, but you get what I mean. I do think PK, Dame, and Shok had some silly ass beats...barely any sound good now, so with album cuts, I agree. But DMX's singles were DOPE....even the shit with Sisqo had a fire beat at the time.

He sold over 18 million records in the US alone and was a huge star in the late 90s/early 2000's. He's not a great rapper or even a great human being but 5 multiplatinum records is by no means a failure.

focused and as driven about his own well being as his career.

that doberman pinscher head looking Turkey had a heck of a run for a cat who just was wildin through a career at blinding speed.

now if he was calm and went into it at a means to balance his own being out he would be even more important.

his stat game was sick and he was the hottest cat in the game for a minute.

DMX to me always has some of the best interviews especially when they ask him what he thinks about other artists. i always get hyped for his takes.

he always tells you how he feels.
