not sure the songwriting is gonna be strong enough but they might get over just off that aesthetic & some of the associations to be at least somewhere near a Gary Clark Junior level of notoriety/popularity.

I checked out a few songs.

CCR were the first thing that came to mind....but I think you're point about the songwriting is the missing element. They need some memorable songs that extend beyond the retro arrangements and sonics.

I'll take this over Jack White anyday though.

Jack White's problem was that he started spreading himself too thin after that record between three bands plus production/vanity-label duties & concerning himself with seeking approval from old classic-rock dinosaurs rather than continuing to etch out his own path by making strong records.

they should be ecstatic to reach that level

No major hit songs but national-touring live act for their niche (in his case blues-based, in there's more rock/soul) who might get called upon for tribute shows/albums, etc.

The Jack White co-sign is very appropriate in that regard.

I think the songs are really really strong. Some of the playing could be stronger though. She's such a powerful lead, the playing seems so diminished by comparison.
