blame DST for this dude made me dig out appetite last nite, which lead me to re listen to this classic record
now...im not going to discuss whether its "better" then AFD. of course...its not. what COULD be. but to me...its like...1a. granted the sample size is mad small but still.
i couldnt really deal w/ the self loathing woe ie me nirvana aspect of the 90s rock scene...i need bombast. this got it...in spades

so fine, you could be mine, yesterdays, civil war, estranged, lots of good stuff on there. i read somewhere that don't cry is the first song they ever wrote together.

whenever gnr is being discussed. If you take the best song from both and made them one cd, it would have easily been on par with appetite.
The main complaint that comes to mind is that the double cd was "bloated" but imo a lot the second tier songs songs were still pretty good. the only one i actually dont like is "my world," which was clearly all axl's doing, but the rest were cool. Since back then, you couldnt go online and find the "throwaway" tracks, im glad they released it the way they did instead of one CD, cause then we would prob never heard the other songs
