While it is prophetic of P-Funk's career (first they were acid-eating rock children, then came more of the danceable stuff) it is not precise when it comes to the majority of their output.
The basic idea of P-Funk to me is that they slip messages in through their dance music.
thus, their fans rarely freed their minds and then allowed their asses to follow in kind; instead it was more likely that their asses would be freed before their minds.

"Free Your Ass and Your Mind Will Follow,"
that's my motto.

but truthfully, i didn't *get* parliament
until i heard funkadelic.

"flashlight" used to be a cool dance song,
but it didn't become a manifesto for me until i heard the "free your mind and your ass will follow."

i dig your point, though.

often times, the ass does tend to move the mind.
they're totally connected.

I nominate J-Zone's "Pimps Don't Pay Taxes"

Lebron couldn't win a chip without two superstars from his draft class. He didn't just need help. The nigga needed the cheat code to enable god mode.(c)Kira
