Had this back in 2002 and somehow it got lost in the shuffle.

I love this period of the Roots. Experimental in a really hypnotic way. I remember the live show around this time was also mind blowing (not that it hasn't always been). This recording probably could have been released as an EP with fully mastered sound.

I would pay for a Louis CK style $5 independent Roots record where they just go buckwild on some fun shit in the studio like these sessions. Maybe add a little polish to some "Sandwiches" and get Thought to go off over them in a live MC kind of way.

The statement records are definitely important, but this kind of material where the Roots show off their chops can be rewarding too.

As an aside to this aside, it would be cool if the Roots caught up with Gilles Peterson before he's off BBC.
