"Jay-Z is not the first rapper to play Carnegie Hall"

M.C. Lyte was the first rapper to play Carnegie Hall. Just felt it should be put out there 'cause people like to rewrite history and forget the past...especially in hip hop. I've read on too many sites that Jay-Z is the first and it is just not true. I am surprised none of the sites stepped up and made the correction.

I'd hate to get in the middle of this, but did you not get that was part of him being sarcastic toward the "do you want a cookie" joke thrown at him?

I believe he was the first.

Thee Phantom, who posts on here a lot, also played Carnegie Hall before.

Yeah, I don't know either.
The Jay-Z articles on the different sites gave me the impression that he was the first rap act Carnegie Hall has seen period.
