I was REALLY hoping he would have a trap beat for this. I thought that would have been a dope change for him. The right beat could have made this sick. I love the HELL outta Saul, but the music in this just sounds too... stagnant? as far as his sound is concerned. It sounds like a run-on of what he usually does... that sound where everything gets more dramatic, grandiose as the song goes on... on top of not really having any funk or soul in it... nothing really Hip Hop that I can feel, even tho he's rapping... kinda wish he'd tap more into some stuff he was doing on the self-titled album. He was getting there... producing his own stuff. Then he stopped and let other folks produce him. I think his sound needs something different (probably his own production). I'll definitely check for the album, but the music he put with this kinda ruined it for me. I'd rather hear it a capela and imagine different music with it, lol.

Yeah, and while I'm fine with him continuing to move outside the standard boundaries of hip hop, I completely agree with you that it mostly sounds like a continuation of what he's been doing since... how long? Which on the one hand is fine, because we know it will be quality. But I'd like to hear him switch stuff up a bit more, both vocally and musically.
That said, I thought the drum programming on this track was great... and I *think* this is actually Saul's production, which shows big strides on his part I think.
>The joint at the end sounds dope tho
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing - looking forward to hearing that one.

I heard this along at a recent show along with a lot of new material and all of it ran circles around his last album. If I had to explain how the new stuff sounds, I'd say it sounds like a mix of his self-titled album and the Niggy Tardust album.....which is not a bad thing at all.
