The new Goodie Mob is Soul Food made with products from Whole Foods this go 'round instead of products that come from Kroger; meaning that a lot of the traditional dishes they're known for were cooked up in Cali instead of on Georgia soil. They're simply integrating their sound seeing that the flagship artist of the group is the current top dog in the industry. We will never get another Soul Food (just like I knew that we would never get anything as close to great and soulful as Off The Wall from MJ), but I ain't mad at it..at all. All in all, they're just gettin' theirs and for a group like them in today's climate of music..it makes total sense what they're doing. Creatively, they're STILL (to me) the same Goodie Mob heads know and love and this new album definitely makes you forget about World Party.

He fucked this shit up with his executive producing. The people don't want a Cee Lo rap album featuring Goodie Mob. Maybe this shit will get some radio play. The production is not what I wanted to hear the Goodie Mob over. I couldn't even look these bruh's in the face after listening to this glossy shit.
I kinda see what he's doing because there are a lot of messages on this record and this type of production may get it in the hands of those who otherwise would miss it. But ultimately this is not an album for the fan of Soul Food and Still Standing, and that makes me a little sad.

this ain't no classic but its respectable..Cee-lo get his solo shine with the sorta rediclious Nexperiance but it will be okay in the mix of the album..I took away all the complete BS that was on the album..this album would be a nice lil finale for the group.

i almost feel like its not marketable on any level. sadly the production doesnt stand up to the shit on top right now. and it alienates the underground audience. i mean what are they going for here?? i think back to the saying 'if it aint broke, don't fix it' what was broken about 'soul food' and 'still standing'? if they kept that sound at least they could have maintained a solid underground following.

It's like they're not satisfied with just the core base. I feel like there are ways to maintain the base and still try to progress and gain new fans as well.
Outkast did that for 4 albums straight.
But then the flip side, you have those people who would complain if an artist never changed and would claim the artist was "boring".

yea i agree with what you said. when artists deviate very far from their iconic sound i imagine theres a large element of risk involved. Risk of alienating former fans, and risk of not pulling off something different.

I have no idea why anyone thought this album would be good.
Their last album when they were still active wasn't even good & nothing that happened since seemed poised to 'inform' a quality Goodie Mobb reunion album.
That being said, it's not as bad as that song suggested one-listen-thru.
Nothing I'd ever buy but not quite as awful as I'd imagined it would/could be.

Speaking on the Lumberjacks album: the track "Superfriends" has Gipp on it, and is produced by ONP. It's a dope track. To me, better than any track off One Monkey... and up there with the few good tracks off World Party.

I'd bet against that, in grounds that I've never heard of the label this was released on. The EP's of the album work for Atlantic Records, but this is on some rinky-dink label. Doubt a lot of advance money was to be had.

note: "amy" ( which tries to go for the "shocking"-yet-catchy vibe of "f*ck you" but fails horribly if for no other reason than it is so derivative and just...stupid), "power" are already out..
experiment over: nah, those songs just suck. on some you can kinda see what they (lets stop fronting these are some cee-lo hubris ish) were going for, but they just fail spectacularly on pretty much every level
i could excuse them of they truly WERE on a cee-lo branded collection cuz he just weird and we expect weird stuff from dude, but under the Goodie MOB banner they are just sad

I saw T-Mo at the Apollo about a year ago and I told him I was happy the Goodie was back together. He seemed happy that a cat from NY was anticipating the album. Man I wish I could see him again. We'd have to go get a cup of tea and talk about what the hell they were thinking.

sounds like a bad public enemy/outkast record at times
and i like understanding a lot, but the lyrics on a lot of the other songs just dont hit the mark for me, the messages arent clear enough. seems like a bit of a mess. shame.
