With Vice Magazine's Noisey putting national attention to "Portland's hip-hop problem" in an article last week, today one of the city's brightest rap hopes, Epp, offers up nothing but solutions in the form of his longawaited debut solo album, Chrome Plated Chronicles.
Serving as Portland's unparalleled "cameo king" for years now, stealing the show on seminal projects by rappers Illmaculate, Cool Nutz, Cassow, indie darlings Radiation City & countless other locals, plus landing guest spots on projects by out-of-town heavyweights like Planet Asia and Waajeed (on an upcoming single) and winning over the entire NW with countless live shows as 1/3rd of the group TxE (w/ TOPE and producer G_Force), Epp finally now delivers his solo debut album.
And disappoint it does not. Produced in full by in-house collaborators Green Team (Calvin Valentine & Lawz Spoken) and without a single other feature or guest appearance on it - CPC is a brief but heavy-hitting offering, chock-full of poignant storytelling raps and true-to-life vignettes that each reveal further layers upon repeated listens.
